1 oz Appleton V/X (or Coruba Dark)
1 oz El Dorado 3-year (or Flor de Caña 4-year Extra Dry)
1 oz Kraken (or Screech Spice 100)
1 oz Kümmel (see substitution note below)
1 oz Blood Orange Juice
0.5 oz Lime Juice
1 oz Orgeat
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Shake all ingredients and serve over crushed ice. Garnish with blood orange slice.
This is a very tasty drink. It's very tiki with the combo of rums and citrus, but also different than traditional drinks. I guess I'd describe it as a bit darker than other punches. I liked it a lot, as did the mrs.
Kümmel is the unusual ingredient here, and I didn't have any. Wikipedia says that kümmel is a "sweet, colorless liqueur flavored with caraway seed, cumin, and fennel". Based on that, I used 0.75 oz aquavit with a splash of cherry herring and 0.25 oz of Valhalla Nordic Herbal Liqueur. Subbing one random liqueur for another might not be too helpful, but it's what I had available. I also didn't have any of the suggested rums, so I used similar bottles that I had on hand (as noted above).
